Last Baby Standing

Max still refuses to walk (alone) but he stands unassisted quite often. He is SOO close to taking a step. In fact, yesterday was the first day he actually moved a foot with "no hands". "No hands" is what we say to him so he'll let go of our fingers, hands, or whatever he might be holding on to. However, usually he drops to his knees the instant he wants to start moving. Moving his foot, just an inch (if that), is actual progress. :)

Anyways, this video was taken a few weeks ago but I'm just now watching it (and LOLing). Actually, he is exactly 16 months old in it. You can see how proud he is for standing all by himself. Hopefully there will be a true walking video in the very near future!!!

Just Pictures from Indy #2

Here are the pictures we took during our fabulous morning at the Indinapolis Zoo. It was pretty much the only day that wasn't MISERABLY hot. In fact, the morning was only in the upper 70s, low 80s and beautifully sunny...perfect!!! We had a great time obviously!!!

So nice to have Grandpa there to take some family shots. :)
Loving the giraffes! He could have stayed there all day!

Kaelan and I were the only ones on the roller coaster and took advantage by sitting in the front car. No matter how small, roller coasters are super fun!!!! It's really short but they sent us around 3 times...hooray!!!

Time for the train!

Waiting for it to pull into the station

Took Grandpa's hat again. I guess they're destined to be HOOSIERS!!!!

Dad was trying to get a family shot by holding the camera out in front of himself. There were 2 little girls (maybe 10 or 11) sitting in the car in front of us and one of them asked if we would like her to take the picture. Clearly she should explore a future in photography because she did a fabulous job!!! Thanks to whoever you are!

He doesn't really sit still for very long but it allowed me to get this great picture during the ride. So cute!!!!

Grandma's favorite...the carousel. Hold on tight Grandma, he squirms!!!
Max spent the majority of the ride looking up, trying to figure out the crank that made his bird go up and down. I love that both boys are so interested in figuring out how things work, just like Daddy! :)

Adorable, even when constricted by an anaconda. ;)

Hot and ready for some fun at the splashpad. Unfortunately, it was also past our regular lunch and nap time. This was taken during the only short period of time when Max was not crying/complaining. However, once he got some food, he was happy as can be for the rest of our time at the zoo.

Kaelan obviously could do without food or sleep and had a BLAST!!! Here he's protecting everyone at he zoo by fighting water "cannons" sent by evil do-ers.

Our last stop was "The Waters" exhibit which both boys really enjoyed.

On an unrelated note, I have to share the cutest thing that happened last night. Max has started going to bed around 7:30 instead of 8 (by choice...hooray!!!) but K still stays up till between 8-8:30. So, the 3 of us were watching a little TV before bedtime and I fell asleep on the couch. I woke up to Kaelan covering me up with the blanket from his bed. He later protected me from the Evil Daddy when he tried to sit on me (cuz he's SO funny...haha). I'm so thankful for my hero!!!!! ;)

Just pictures from Indy #1

Well, I've finally transferred all the Indiana pictures from my camera (as well as Dad's) to my computer. There are SOOOOO many good ones!! In fact, there are way to many to combine into one post. I originally began this with the intention of sharing pics from both the Indy Zoo and the Indians game, however, after seeing all the fabulous pictures from the game, I decided to save the zoo for another entry.
It was Kaelan's 1st baseball game, actually, his 1st professional ball game of any kind and we had the BEST time.,.thanks to Grandpa!!! I would have never thought of going to an Indians game but it was one of our favorite parts of the trip. We took a blanket to sit on the lawn and enjoyed $1 hot dogs for dinner (a special on Monday nights). It was fabulous!!! The boys weren't confined to seats (or laps...HOT!!!!!) and Max doesn't like the grass so he happily crawled around on the blanket and played. The game itself was actually pretty boring, that is until we left at the end of the 6th inning. We were behind 3-0, our pitching was horrible, and although the boys were still behaving extremely well for 9:00 on a crazy hot night, it was way past bedtime and we thought we had better quit while we were ahead. Unfortunately, we left just before the Indians scored 4 runs in the 7th inning to win the game. Oh well, many more games (and hopefully wins) to come in our future annual summer trips to Indy. :)

The beginning of the game. I didn't know Dad was taking this picture obviously...sorry Dad! :)

This is hilarious!!!!! Dad got nachos and being that Max likes to eat everybody else's food, he decided to help himself. He saw Mom and Dad dipping their chips into the cheese so of course he followed suit. Here's what happened...

Wearing Grandpa's hat

Not to be outdone by his little brother. I don't think Grandpa got it back the rest of the night. :)

Action shot while reaching for Grandpa's camera

Grandma the tickle-monster

Nothing exciting, I just love this shot of the 3 of us since I'm usually the one taking the picture. Thanks Grandpa!!!! :)

Playing with his souvenier ball

Kaelan got a miniature bat for his souvenier. The same kind Scott and I had when we were kids. He decided he needed some shots of him posing as a baseball player. The kid who never wanted to take a photo is now the one posing whenever possible. He makes me laugh!!!

Call TOPPS, this kid's ready for his own baseball card.

Kaelan decided that it was my turn to pose. I wouldn't have put this in except that he actually took this picture. Even without editting, it was the best photo-job of the night. Just wish it wasn't me in the shot. :)

Laughing at and climbing on Grandpa

Just before we left, the mascot came out on a truck and was "shooting" stuff into the lawn. We rushed down so Kaelan could have a shot at catching a prize. Unfortunately, he never made it to centerfield where we were.

Where did he go?

Time to go home

A shot from across the street. This is such an outstanding stadium!!! And of course, Kaelan is posing. :)

These little guys were in front of the Convention Center across the street. They had to say hello before we left.

Perfect size!!!!

Last Day in Indy :(

Well, our 2 weeks has come and gone and we head home to SC 1st thing tomorrow morning. We had an absolute fabulous time with so many friends and family members. The only thing that could have made it better is if Mike were here with us. We look forward to seeing him later this week after he returns from a business trip.

Lots of really great pics from the Indy Children's Museum but here are a few random quickies.

These first few are from Friday morning. Katrina, Paige, and Wes cane down so we could all hang out one last time. We found a free sprayground at a local park for them to play in and get some exercise.

As I said on an earlier post, Kaelan and Paige really had a great time together over the past couple weeks. Katrina said that Paige asks her, "Where's my Kaelan?). SO cute!!!!

The next few pics are from today. My Grandma got these Cars 2 cake pans for the boys and we tested them out today. As you will see, the cakes turned out perfectly. We'll keep working on the icing. We only got thru Lightning McQueen today (thank goodness that's all his attention-span could handle). :) Thanks Grandma, these were really easy and fun for all of us!!!

Finished un-iced cakes minus Lightning McQueen.

Enjoying the one final product. YUM!!!

Fort Wayne Zoo

We are currently on our way home from Fort Wayne where we enjoyed a fabulous and HOT time at the zoo and more importantly, a wonderful visit with my grandpa. He had never met Max so it was super to have all of us together. Dad got a couple family shots that I'll put up later along with a ton of great pics from the zoo. Here's just a couple from my phone.

He was asleep in less than 5 minutes once we got in the car. Both boys held up beautifully through the heat at the zoo, lunch at one of Grandpa's old spots from his childhood, and visiting my Grandpa. Very proud of them!!!

Playtime with the Senasecs

We were fortunate enough to spend 4 nights and 3 days with my good friend Katrina and her family. Her husband Trent has always held a special spot in Kaelan's life. He took care of him during Melissa and Colin's wedding when K was only 6 months old. It was during Kaelan's treatment for infantile spasms so he could be a little fussy at times. However, Trent, who was not yet a father himself, took care of our little guy as if he were his own. He never complained, in fact insisted that I go do my bridesmaid duties and not worry about them. I know I could never thank "Uncle" Trent enough for those couple days before Mike could get there but I hope he knows how much we appreciate him!!!

Anyways, clearly the boys and I had an absolute blast the entire time. We hung out around their new, gorgeous house, went to the park, and then spent some time at Katrina's Parent's lake house. Here are just a few pictures but trust me, there are LOTS more to come and some video too!!

Buddies

Uncle Trent pushing K and Paige in the lake. They had SO much fun together. They challenged each other sometimes but in this case, it was fabulous. Paige didn't used to like going in the lake but K if course wanted to jump right in...so she did too. Then, he didn't want to have to touch the bottom which was just sand. She started walking around like it was nothing. Before we knew it they were both walking and swimming all over the place. They made a great team!!

The whole gang in the car on the way to the lake. It's hard to see but there are 5 kids (all in carseats...WOW) and 2 dogs in the back of their van.
