Memorial Day Weekend

Happy Memorial Day to all! We had a wonderful weekend full of relaxation and fun. Uncle Scott (my brother) came to visit from Florida for the long weekend and it was fabulous to have him here. Kaelan adores him and they had a great time together. Mike isn't used to having holidays off so he didn't know what to do with himself. It's so nice to have him home more often and on a regular schedule. We also had some passes for Carowinds that we used on Monday. We only spent a couple of hours there due to the weather, but it was plenty of time for Kaelan to be able to ride all the available attractions for his size. They also seem to have a fabulous waterpark that even has a waterslide that Kaelan can do with one of us. We look forward to spending some time there some day. There is video at the bottom of K on a couple of the rides. And oh yes, that IS a roller coaster at the end. The kid has absolutely NO fear or intimidation of ANY kind. He loved every minute of it and would have gone on the bigger ones if he wasn't so short. Enjoy!

Kaelan and Uncle Scott ("Cheese!")

The lighting was bad so I attempted to switch it to black and white for a better result. A very rare appearance of K actually looking at the camera AND smiling. Perfect!

Riding little jets that go around and around pretty slowly. Enjoyed it, but I think he thought it was pretty dull compared to some of the other rides. He had no fear of riding by himself which surprised me a little bit. I knew he'd love the rides but I thought being by himself might be a little intimidating. NOPE!

Working the controls (the horn).

Mommy and Kaelan on the Carousel. He rode a beautiful black horse that moved up and down throughout the ride. "Ride the horsy" he says everytime we pass a carousel.

Enjoying the ride and looking for Daddy.

Daddy and Kaelan on the boats. Mike does NOT like rides that go in circles but this one was VERY slow...too slow in fact for K, perfect speed for Daddy (and his stomach).

Ringing the bell.

Kaelan and Daddy driving the old cars. Kaelan got to sit on Daddy's lap and steer all by himself.

Our little speed racer! Of course he loved being "in control". :)

His first ride all by himself. Airplanes that moved much faster than the other rides you saw above. No fear, no intimidation, just excitment. Listen for his cackles, laughter, and screams of happiness. It's AWESOME!!!!

Kaelan's first roller coaster. You can see he and I in the 2nd car and if you look very closely, you can see the biggest and best smile on his face on the way down the hill. It moves fast so it's kind of difficult to see unfortunately. After it was over he DID NOT want to get off and kept saying "roller coaster, roller coaster". In fact, on our way through the exit, he threw a mini-fit and sat down in protest. It was hilarious! So, since there were no lines in most of the kiddie rides, he got to ride again.

His 2nd ride on the roller coaster, with Daddy this time. It's more difficult to see them but they're in the 3rd car. I wanted to stand farther away so you could see the whole ride and how exciting and full of action the coaster was. It was the BEST!!!!

Random April pics

As I said in my last post, April was a very busy month for us with tons of fabulous pictures to share. Clearly it was difficult for me to narrow it down too much since I've added so many here.

Hangin' out at home. This kid LOVES hats!

Riding his new bike. Well, sort of riding. We quickly realized we shouldn't have skipped the tricycle step. Oh well, he'll get it...eventually. :)

Having a BLAST in a huge bouncy thing at the Come See Me Festival here in Rock Hill.

His first time on a school bus. He has wanted to ride on a school bus for SO long so this was definitely a highlight.

Riding a horse at one of the local festival events. It was a fabulous weekend of activities that he will only grow to enjoy more and more.

Play ball!

Watering the flowers he and Nana planted. They've sprouted and we can't wait for some blooms!

Riding his 4-wheeler in the backyard.

New hat, new shades, cool kid!

Kaelan and Daddy at a local children's museum in Dayton, OH which we visited over spring break.

Workin' out so he can grow up to wear a real football jersey. :)

Wrestlin' with Daddy at JG Academy in OH. "He's got nothin' on me!"

"Bring it on Uncle Matt...GRRRR!"

"I love to swim!"

Hello! April was a VERY busy and super fun month for us and we have SO many pictures to prove it. However, for this posting, we are showing off our new little fishy. Kaelan had his very first swimming lesson today. We all know he loves the water so needless to say, it was a huge hit! He squealed and giggled and his smile did not leave his face the entire time he was in the pool. He doesn't even think he needs us; he wants to do it all by himself. Of course we don't let him (don't worry Grandma and Nana).
Our lessons are 30 minutes long every Tuesday and Thursday night for the next 4 weeks.
The best part (after seeing Kaelan's face in the pool) is that Mike and I both get to be in the water and share this experience with him. I pretty much hogged Kaelan for the whole lesson so you won't see Mike in any of the pictures (although K wouldn't let him miss out on the fun for too long). I'll also try to download some video but you just never know. Hope this finds everyone doing well and enjoying some warmer weather!
