The Beach

We had a fabulous time at the beach this past weekend. Mike, Kaelan, and I spent a few days at Papa and Nana's place in Isle of Palms, SC. It is so beautiful and relaxing and we are so grateful for the opportunity to spend some time there and evenmore, to share those experiences with our little guy. He's at the age now that he remembers and looks forward to things you tell him about. He talked about going to the beach for an entire week before we left and he couldn't wait to play with his new sand toys.

Playing with his new sand dump truck/digger on the beach. This truck went EVERYWHERE with us the entire weekend!

After this, Kaelan wanted NO part of the water so Daddy put him on his shoulders. He liked this much better but didn't care to get back in the ocean the rest of the weekend. Hopefully he forgets about his fall and his fear before our next trip to the beach.

Some BIG waves!

"What the heck was THAT all about?!"

Daddy and Kaelan walking together at Fort Moultrie. Along with Fort Sumter and Charleston's battery, it defended America's southeast coast until the 1940s.

An overall view of the fort and Kaelan talking a bit.
Next to one of the many cannons aiming out into the Atlantic Ocean.

Kaelan sitting on one of the sets of stairs to the underground magazines.

Kaelan posing on the balcony of the condo so Mommy can get an early morning shot of the ocean, beach, and 18th green.

Just bein' silly!

The pool was definitely Kaelan's favorite thing to do on our trip (playing in the sand was a CLOSE 2nd). He loves jumping into the pool!

Enjoying our walk on the beach with shells in both hands.

All smiles on our way from the beach to the pool with shells in hand. Gosh I love him SO much!!!

Wedding Weekend Pictures

We had a super fun weekend in Lake Toxaway, NC for Jill and Tanner's wedding! Jill is Mike's cousin, Aunt Sherri and Uncle Glen's daughter (Glen was a speaker in our wedding for those of you who were there). It was so much fun! They had an entire weekend full of activities planned for their guests since essentially all of them were out-of-towners (including the bride and groom). It started with a party Friday night for all guests not going to the rehersal dinner. Saturday guests had the option of playing golf on the most beautiful golf course I've ever seen, going on 1 of 2 hikes to waterfalls, or taking a boat ride around the lake to see the beautiful homes and breathtaking views. We were fortunate enough to go on both the hike and the boat ride which we all enjoyed greatly! Finally, the weekend ended with a good-bye brunch on Sunday. I don't know when I've ever had better food or weather. The whole weekend was incredibly fun and relaxing at the same time. It was so wonderful to spend time with Mike's family who we rarely get to see. I know this is an extremely long entry, but we had so much to share from this fabulous weekend!

The Hike/Waterfall

Saturday morning before the wedding, we went on a mile hike to a waterfall in the mountains. It was so much fun...for all 5 of us. That's right, I said 5. We were able to bring our dogs with us for the weekend so they were more than happy to hike and play in the water. Of course Kobe enjoyed the hike to the waterfall a lot more than the hike back (poor old boy) but he made it the whole way with a smile on his face. As you can see, it was beautiful! At the bottom of the post is a short video in which you can hear the volume of the water.

Kaelan throwing rocks into the water.

From behind the waterfall.

This is what K looked like after he decided to walk into the incredily muddy puddle you see there to the left. Of all the water we just saw, why does he choose the most disgusting? But like Grandpa taught Kaelan, "Boys will be boys!"

The Boat Ride

Here are pictures of the boat ride we took around Lake Toxaway. We learned it was a man-made lake that is near 100 years old. The Austins have had a home there for about 6 years and it is GORGEOUS! The beauty of the lake and the mountain views was amazing and humbling.

Family photo on the boat.

Just an example of the inspiring views.

Kaelan looking out at the water. Hold on tight Nana!

Kaelan got to be captain for a bit. He loved it of course! Here's him steering the boat. He kept calling himself a pirate...how cute is that!

Kaelan blowing the horn.

Sitting in embarrassment after he threw the boat into reverse unexpectedly. We all got a little jolt, or maybe it was just the mimosas they were serving. :)
The Wedding Reception
Well, needless to say, this adorable thing was the hit of the party. Just wait until you see the video at the end.

How cute is he? (Holding a strawberry) He was VERY proud of his outfit, including his hair (which Daddy does), but that darn shirt WOULD NOT stay in. ANNOYING!!!!

All of the sudden he just started "posing," feet always crossed of course. Makes my cheeks hurt!

Showing off their matching ties. You'd never believe that K, Papa, and Daddy were all wearing yellow, striped ties. Admittedly, Daddy's was planned but Papa's was a surprise bonus! Too cute!!!

Nana's pride and joy!

In the middle of the dancefloor, by himself, showing off his dance skills while everyone else was eating dinner.

A little breakdancing for your viewing pleasure. (Thanks "So You Think You Can Dance!")

Dancing with Nana and Papa - Papa proudly passed on the Fulmer dancing gene!

Kaelan and Cousin Brittany (one of Mike's sister's daughters)

Dancing with Cousin Hope (wife of Mike's cousin and Matron of Honor)

Videos

Kaelan at the waterfall. He wouldn't fess up to how he got all wet, but we all know what he did. :)

Kaelan cuttin' a rug, givin' everybody a show during dinner. He didn't care that he was the only one dancing.

Kaelan and Mommy dancing. He was being such a snuggle bug at the beginning of this and then when we started dancing he was guiding my hand through a lot of it. So cute!!!!
